👼Patron Saints in the UK

Each country in the UK has its own special protector called a patron saint. These saints look after different things like jobs, health issues, churches, and even entire countries. England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland each have their own national saint.

Each saint in the UK has their own special day:
In Wales, it's St David's Day on March 1st.
Northern Ireland celebrates St Patrick's Day on March 17th.
England has St George's Day on April 23rd.
And in Scotland, they mark St Andrew's Day on November 30th.

In Scotland and Northern Ireland, they celebrate their patron saints' days as official holidays. But in England and Wales, even though they still celebrate the patron saints' days, they're not public holidays anymore.

🚨Did you know that in the UK, there's a tradition of eating special foods on each of the patron saints' days? For example, on St. David's Day in Wales, people enjoy traditional dishes like Welsh cakes and leek soup!
